Zanzibar is situated in the Indian Ocean, approximately 40 km/25 miles from the Tanzanian coast in East Africa. This beautiful island consists of two main Islands, Zanzibar, also referred to as Unguja by the locals and Pemba Island as well as a number of smaller islets.

Zanzibar is also known as the exotic 'Spice Island' due to the delightful variety of spices available on the island. The capital of Zanzibar is Stone Town; a World Heritage Site steeped in history and culture. Historic sights in Zanzibar include Stone Town, Mbweni Ruins, Hamamni Persian Baths, the first public baths in Zanzibar built in the 19th century; situated among vibrant cobbled streets waiting to be discovered.
