Tour Zanzibar

Zanzibar is situated in the Indian Ocean, approximately 40 km/25 miles from the Tanzanian coast in East Africa. This beautiful island consists of two main Islands, Zanzibar, also referred to as Unguja by the locals and Pemba Island as well as a number of smaller islets.

Zanzibar is also known as the exotic 'Spice Island' due to the delightful variety of spices available on the island. The capital of Zanzibar is Stone Town; a World Heritage Site steeped in history and culture. Historic sights in Zanzibar include Stone Town, Mbweni Ruins, Hamamni Persian Baths, the first public baths in Zanzibar built in the 19th century; situated among vibrant cobbled streets waiting to be discovered.

Zanzibar Beauty

Visitors in Zanzibar are spoilt for choice; the island offers spectacular white sandy beaches, breathtaking ocean views, magnificent coral reefs and extraordinary marine life making Zanzibar one of the best destinations in the world for snorkelling and scuba diving.

Zanzibar serenityIn the rain forest in Zanzibar you will find small wildlife such as monkeys, bush-pigs, small antelopes and civets. The bird life in Zanzibar is prolific and a large number of butterflies can be found in the rural areas.

The approximate population on Zanzibar Island is around 950 000. The local language is Swahili; however English is also spoken widely. In recent years Tourism has become Zanzibar's most significant form of income; however the majority of the local Zanzibari people still rely on fishing and agriculture as their major form of income.

Zanzibar offers a remarkable array in accommodation from beautiful villas, seaside cottages, intimate Guest houses as well as five star luxury hotels and beach resorts.

Another highlight in close proximity to Zanzibar is Mnemba Island; situated off the north-eastern coast of Zanzibar; an idyllic and exclusive island featuring luxurious accommodation, spectacular scenery and rich marine diversity. Mnemba Island is consistently voted as one of the world's most romantic destinations.
